From February 2023 ther has been lamp phase-outs. These has been implemented initially in the EU with the UK set to follow in February 2024.
The phase-out relates to Compact Fluorescent Lamps [CFLs] and is being implemented due to the RoHS Directive which is the global benchmark for reducing toxic substances in electronics, in this case targeting the mercury content in CFLs.
In line with all previous lamp phase-outs, it is still legal to sell and install these lamps. Ultimately once all existing stocks are depleted in the EU or UK, these lamps will no longer be available.
Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) are still commonly used within downlights, panels, bulkheads and/or dimming systems.

LED retrofit alternatives offer a great solution to CFLs. In most cases they offer a direct replacement together with further energy saving benefits and longevity whilst maintaining the installed fixture.
